If you’re new to Arizona, or you’ve been here thirty years, one of the first things you learn is that summer isn’t about avoiding fun. It’s about finding creative ways to stay cool while you have it.

With temperatures well into the triple digits, we thought we’d share a few ways to enjoy summer in the Valley without spending all day in the heat. And before we get to the list: we’d like to introduce Wendy Holst, another new partner here at Arizona Home Group. She’s got a few favorites on this list, too.

First up is the Arizona Boardwalk in Scottsdale. It’s really a one-stop destination, because there are multiple attractions all in one place. You can spend the day exploring OdySea Aquarium, walk through Butterfly Wonderland, hit the Museum of Illusions for a genuinely Instagram-worthy photo spot, and enjoy several other family-friendly attractions and restaurants. All of it indoors and air-conditioned.

For families with younger children, the Children’s Museum of Phoenix is hard to beat. It features three levels of hands-on exhibits designed specifically for kids up to age 10. Interactive, educational, and a great way to burn off some energy while staying cool. Wendy took her daughter there constantly when she was little, and the mock grocery store and restaurant were always the favorites.

If your kids love science and discovery, the Arizona Science Center is the next stop. Between the STEM exhibits, planetarium shows, and live demonstrations, there’s something for kids and adults alike. It’s one of those places where you can easily spend several hours and learn something new while staying cool.

“Summer here isn't about avoiding fun. It's about finding creative ways to stay cool while you have it.”

Looking for something a little more competitive? Topgolf. It’s always a popular summer go-to here, and the best part is that the hitting bays are climate-controlled. Friendly competition, great food, and drinks, without standing out on a hot golf course.

And if you’re thinking, “I want a beach, but I live in the desert,” we’ve got something for that too. Cannon Beach and Revel Surf in Mesa have created a beach and surf experience right here in the desert. It’s 37 acres of lifestyle park offering surfing, beach activities, dining, and an atmosphere that’s unlike anything else in the Valley.

Of course, one of the best ways to beat the heat is heading to the movies, which is the perfect excuse to remind you about our client appreciation movie day. Join us on Sunday, August 9th at 11:00 a.m. at Harkins Theatre in Chandler for a fun morning at the movies. We do this every year. It’s our way of saying thank you to our clients, friends, and supporters, and we’d love to see you there. Watch for an email from us soon so you can RSVP.

Stay cool, enjoy the rest of your summer, and we’ll see you next month.
